Outside the building where there is definitely a werewolf, the party discuss how best to deal with the situation. Nieven, associated with the guardians, questions why they simply can't knock on the door and question the residents within. Corsibane takes an approach similar to Nieven's idea and knocks on the door, immediately casting a command spell on the first person he sees inside, which happens to be a wererat. He makes the creature kneel and quickly enters the room. The rat is tied, while Thorvalla assists with grappling and tying the second wererat. They begin questioning the creatures, learning that a third companion is staying in a back room and they are pleading their innocence, claiming a drow attacked them and ran. After learning this was a lie, Galen manages to learn that a covered mirror in the room is somehow responsible for Kaithias' disappearance. When he pulls the cloth, however, Zwei suddenly disappears from the mirror. He covers it again and learns that the mirror sucks people into it.
Through much discussion, and Nieven informing him that guardians will likely be slow in finding out how to free his friend, they decide to inspect it. They manage to find a way to speak to their two friends locked within and Nieven inspects gnome writing on the back while Galen inspects the arcane runes that give it magic abilities. He learns that it is a mirror of life-trapping and tells everyone that he's confident shattering the mirror will release their friends. Thorvalla does just that and both Kaithias and Zwei appear before them, as well as a young boy that was reported missing. Unfortunately, so does a multitude of other creatures, including a young woman, a man dressed entirely in black armor with clawed gauntlets, several ghouls, and a horned man with large bat-like wings. The demonic man focuses on Thorvalla with a grin and asks her to lower her weapons. She obeys, and then soon turns her weapons upon Galen, seeming without reason. As the man in armor is quickly brought down through the efforts of both Nieven and Zwei, Corsibane and Galen collectively focus upon the horned devil. Their attacks do very little and looking towards them, the devil grins and focuses solely upon Corsibane. "I was told to keep an eye out for you." He says briefly before vanishing from their sight.
