Eventually satisfied with their shopping, the party returns to the inn, meeting a melancholy Galen while there. He briefly explains his situation, which seems to anger Icarus. While the genasi storms off to his own room, Galen decides to pay a visit to the library and brush up on his magical academia. Corsibane utilizes some of the tools he had brought earlier to paint a portrati, while Thorvalla visits a temple to attempt to meet with Guardian Orrian.
The guardians at the temple are at first reluctant to assist, then promise they shall deliver Thorvalla's message and a pixie will be sent as soon as Orrian is available. Waiting several hours, Thorvalla returns to the temple to demand a council with Orrian. The guardians present are intimidated and are unsure of what to do in this scenario. They offer their apologies while assuring Thorvalla that Orrian did receive the message they sent. She leaves disappointed and meets the others at the inn, where they prepare for an evening with a friend Corsibane wishes to introduce to them.
Kaithias had ventured out, following a lead he received from the tinkerer's workshop. Arriving at a warehouse he encounters a small clockwork dog, looking in need of repairs. Following the voices within, he enters the warehouse but his presence is sensed. An unknown individual calls out to him, asking him to reveal himself. He casts faerie fire, immediately initiating a battle. Rounding the corner reveals a wererat and a werewolf. The rat eventually scurries off, but he returns with a friend and a large mirror. Kaithias nearly takes out the werewolf when, in a final act of desperation, the wolf manages to secure its jaws around his arm. As the rats pull away a sheet, Kaithias feels a strong pull towards his own reflection. He eventually feels his mind and body give in to this pull and soon finds himself completely surrounded by fog. As far as he is aware, there is little else around him except the fog, but he gets a small feeling that he isn't alone.
