The party wakes after a restless night by the river and continues their journey towards Destitute. It isn't long before they stumble across a lone girl in the road asking for assistance to find her mother and sister, who didn't come home last night. A little wary, the party decides to trust her and follows her advice, traveling up the river to try to find out if there is a bandit fortress. After some travel, they find some wooden doors, nestled into a hill near the river. Kaithias attempts to spy upon the fortress, accompanied by Galen's owl, when both are spotted and a fight immediately breaks out. Everyone gathers into the small cave hoping to save the prisoners within. As they move futher towards the back, and the leader of the small gang, a strange warrior appears and assists in defeating the last of the bandits. The dual wielding swordsman introduces himself as Zwei and offers his gratitude, revealing that he comes from another realm and became hostage upon arriving in this new one. Thorvalla informs him that they are in a similar situation and that he is welcome to travel with them to find his way back home.
The party brings the two captured women back home, before moving back on towards the city. When they finally reach the city, they discover that the shiny Nackle was trying to reach was in fact the sun reflecting off a glass dome. Galen is unfortunately unfamiliar with its purpose. The guards are unamused as the party attempts to go through the entrance process, virtually blind. When everyone is registered through a strange magical parchment, they enter the city, immediately heading for the visitor's center. There they meet Daisy, who far too excitedly shows them the various locations they are interested. The party then heads to the nearby inn, where they are promised they will be treated well. It takes awhile for the party to finally pay for their rooms, but once it is done, Thorvalla takes Corsibane's body to a carpenter for a coffin, while Galen takes Ellywick and Azais towards the school of Destitute in hopes to reverse the magic that has been done to them.
